July 2009 Calendar Picture and Fireworks Bonanza

Every Independence Day one of our local communities, Palmetto, FL, puts on a fireworks display. This year I got a good vantage point on the edge of the Manatee River just 2 blocks from my home. I got many photographs, but this is my favorite!


With my camera locked down on a tripod, I took 126 long-exposure pictures and of those, some 56 were decent enough to share. I figured the best way to do that was to make some animations. Because the motion format limited these to 256 dithered colors displayed at double-size, I provided thumbnail links to display any of them at higher resolution and in full color. I hope you enjoy them.
