Wallpaper Photos for February 2012

The coastal wetlands around the mouth of the Manatee River and Terra Ceia Bay form hundreds of square miles of nutrient rich habitat for all manner of native plants and animals where the water depth ranges from about three feet to less than a foot depending on the state of the tide. When the tide is going out, birds gather in the estuaries to feast on the animals carried by the flow.

This month's picture was taken in a small waterway just off of Bishop Harbor along the shore of Terra Cia Bay. Many species of birds, including Ibis, Egrets, and Little Blue Heron gathered to fish on the outgoing tide.
