For a long time now we've been getting increasingly nervous about Google's political leanings and contributions. Recently we learned that they are the single largest private underwriter of the far-left organization, MoveOn.org, having donated over a million dollars with interest in increasing support for Internet regulation legislation. We're rather fond of the Internet free and open, just the way it has always been!
Another big concern is the penetration and control Google seems intent on exercising over our lives. This quote from Google's CEO, Eric Schmidt, sums it up rather nicely. "I actually think most people don’t want Google to answer their questions, They want Google to tell them what they should be doing next." His elaboration is particularly creepy. "we know roughly who you are, roughly what you care about, roughly who your friends are." The obvious question is, why would a search engine care about any of that?
In addition to the above reasons, there are many more you can discover for yourselves with a bit of digging. We've left the demoted Google link a bit lower on the home page, but hope you'll give Bing a try. We've found it to be a fine search engine and a nice change.
